CO2 capture, transport and storage methods. CO2 mineral carbonation. CCS economics and legislation.

Pełny opis: (tylko po angielsku)

1. Greenhouse effect and climate change, sources of CO2 and other GHG emissions, European targets in cutting GHG emissions, international conventions and role of CCS.

2. Industrial CO2 sources and capture methods. CO2 transport.

3. CO2 geological storage. Storage reservoir charachteristics. Porosity and permeability.

4. Storage in saline aquifers. Enhanced oil and gas recovery (EOR and EGR). Storage in un-minable coal seams and enhanced methane recovery (EMR).

5. Natural reservoirs. Properties of geofluids. Underground physical and chemical trapping of carbon dioxide.

6. CO2 storage sites selection, exploration, capacity estimation, risk assessment and monitoring.

7. Mineral carbonation options.

8. CCS legislation and public perception.

9. Economics of CCS and mineral carbonation.

- Understanding of physical and chemical basis of CO2 capture, physical and chemical trapping underground and mineral carbonation methods.

- Knowledge of reservoir and cap rocks and their properties

- Being aware of methods of CO2 storage sites exploration, monitoring and risk analysis.

- Knowledge of storage sites selections requirements.

- Being aware of mineral carbonation options using rocks and waste materials.

- Learning of methods for CO2 storage capacity estimation.

Being aware of CCS costs and European CCS regulations.
