  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

The course includes the most relevant issues in the field of intellectual property rights on a basic level.

Full description:

The course includes the most relevant issues in the field of intellectual property rights like:

- general issues and basic terminology in the field of intellectual property rights,

- division of intellectual property rights,

- copyright - are we allowed to copy books, how to exploit research results and scientific publications according to the law, protection of creative activity - personal rights to works and copyrights,

- patent claims - requirements for patent protection,

- patent information - sources of information, data bases, patent searches,

- practical examples of patent protection,

- way of dealing with new invention,

- rules in patent law relevant in academic environment,

During the course students will be informed about other courses in the field of intellectual property rights available at the University of Warsaw.
