ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 4.00 Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Prerequisites (description):

During undergraduate studies at Measurement Techniques in Nanotechnology students learned the basics of: NMR, X-ray diffraction, high performance liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry, IR spectroscopy, Raman, UV / VIS, NSOM, AFM, STM, EPR, SQUID, circular dichroism, femtosecond and picosecond techniques. As part of the Advanced Engineering Laboratory this knowledge is applied to determine the physico-chemical properties of specific nanomaterials. Students are also acquainted with the methods of manufacturing of various nanomaterials: carbon, ceramic, semiconductor and polymer.

Short description:

The main goal of the laboratory is to acquaint students with the experimental techniques used in various branches of physics and chemistry.

Full description:

Exercises are performed in research groups under the supervision of individual researchers. Each student chooses one exercise. The list of proposed topics with supervisors is available at the subject web page. Other exercises from the Department of Optics, Information Optics, Solid State Physics Department, from prof. Jacek Majewski and the Department of Chemistry needs to be arranged individually.

In exceptional cases, exercise can be performed outside UW laboratories, provided that the second supervisor (with at least a PhD) will be from the Faculty of Physics and Chemistry of Warsaw University.

Głównym celem „Zaawansowanej pracowni inżynierii nanostruktur” jest zapoznanie studentów z technikami eksperymentalnymi stosowanymi w różnych działach fizyki i chemii. W ramach pracowni wiadomości te zostaną zastosowane do właściwości fizykochemicznych specyficznych dla nanomateriałów. Studenci zapoznają się również z metodami wytwarzania różnych nanomateriałów: węglowych, ceramicznych, półprzewodnikowych i polimerowych.
