ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 4.00 Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Short description:

The aim of the course is to present the role of the socio-economic region (including administrative region) in the contemporary European state and the contemporary world economy. This subject will be discussed in the European and Polish context. Moreover, student will learn about the place of the administrative region in Polish socio-economic development policy.

Efekty uczenia się: K_W03, K_W04 / K_U01, K_U10

1. Zna i rozumie rolę regionu społecznego-gospodarczego i procesy w nim zachodzące.

2. Wie jakie potrzeby w zakresie zarządzania generują procesy zachodzące w regionie.

3. Zna i rozumie rolę samorządu na szczeblu regionalnym w krajowej polityce rozwoju oraz rozumie podstawowe różnice w tym zakresie pomiędzy regionami w różnych krajach europejskich.

4. Potrafi rozpoznać i analizować procesy społeczno-gospodarcze zachodzące w regionie, wyjaśnić ich przyczyny, wzajemne powiązania.

5. Potrafi w jasny sposób przekazać wyniki swoich analiz dotyczących procesów społeczno-gospodarczych zachodzących w regionie oraz zaprezentować je różnym grupom odbiorców.
Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

The lecture ends with an examination. The form of the exam varies from one academic year to another, so detailed information is provided in the syllabus section for a given academic cycle and at the lecture. There are three options: a written exam in the room, a written exam remotely via the UW Campus platform, and an oral exam in the room.

All procedures related to the exam are conducted in accordance with the Resolution of the Teaching Council regarding the conduct of exams and assessment in the field of spatial management (available on the website of the Faculty of Geography and Regional Studies)

I do not foresee a zero exam term.

The final grade is made up of 40% of the grade obtained from the tutorials and 60% of the grade obtained from the written exam in the lecture.

Attendance at the exercises is obligatory. You are entitled to one unexcused absence. A greater number of absences is tantamount to failing the exercises and, consequently, the inability to take the lecture exam.

Detailed instructions on how to pass the exercises will be provided during the first class.
