(tylko po angielsku) This course is a practice-based class on qualitative and mixed methods analysis. Students will learn skills needed (a) to collect, analyze, write up and present qualitative findings, (b) the structure of qualitative journal papers and key principles and practical skills of open science in qualitative research, (c) using mixed-methods and methods of quantifying qualitative data. The practical class involves: Guidance on data collection using archival research, online verbal and visual material. Familiarization with real material of texts and images, where students will apply content thematic analysis and mixed-methods analysis. Practice of Braun and Clarke (2015) model of thematic analysis using real material. Practice of the Structured Tabular Approach to thematic analysis (Robinson, 2021) using real material. Writing up findings in academic journal format. Criteria of presentation of textual extracts: How to ensure reliability in qualitative research and how typicality and representativeness of data drive qualitative findings presentations? Familiarization and hands-on experience on using Open Science Framework as a repository for qualitative research questions and findings. Students will have a full access to material for further practice and will also have the opportunity to familiarize themselves via real material with academic writing and structure of qualitative research. The course will take place on class and material to be analyzed will be distributed that time. |
