  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;

Short description:

During the seminar participants prepare master's theses on the subject of the archaeology of the Middle Ages and the Modern Era.

Full description:

During the seminar participants consecutively present and discuss their progress in preparing master’s theses. Majority of the works are based on archaeological finds obtained in the course of excavations conducted by the Institute. The master’s theses, being of diverse subject matter, confine themselves to the research scope of the archaeology of the Late Middle Ages and the Modern Era

The list of discussed scholarly literature will depend on individual choices of the seminar’s participants

Learning outcomes:

Familiarity with diverse research problems in the scope of the archaeology of the Late Middle Ages and the Modern Era, a firm command of research methodology, including a use of various categories of historical sources, logical reasoning as well as academic writing skills.

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

Assessment is based on students’ active participation in the seminar, grading of particular assignments, papers and master's theses
