  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;

Basic information on IT for language and literatury studies. Word processing, document (academic essay and presentation) layout, wordprocessors and editors.

First steps in web-design.

Linguistics and literary repositories.

Searching the web effectively.

Full description:

Basic information on IT, standard programs (in conformity with ECDL programme). Word processing tools, media and resources for philology students and scholars.

Tips, tricks and rules of typesetting in Polish. Wordprocessor and its use.

First steps in web-design (a very short introduction to (X)HTML and CSS).

Linguistic resources: corpora, dictionaries, taggers, statistic tools, TTS tools etc. Collections of texts, virtual libraries, media resources etc. A couple of words on AI.

Searching the corpora and WWW.

Learning outcomes:

After completing the course a student:

- knows main linguistic and literary repositories;

- obeys the netiquette and knows basic rules

of exchanging information on the web;

- is able to do an effective research in electronic resources;

- knows the rules of an academic essay or presentation typesetting;

- knows linguistic tools (corpora browsers, taggers, concordances, dictionaries etc.)

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

1. On-line weekly tests and other activities (posts to forums, assignments, forms). 60% (1,5 ECTS)

2. Final on-line test. 40% (0,5 ECTS)

Students need to gain at least 30% of the points for regular activities to be entitled to the final exam.
