Short description:

Introduction to the history of People’s Republic of Poland, 1944-1989

Based on various types of sources (including movies and novels), the "introduction's" aim is to offer basic knowledge about some processes and events which shaped the life of two generations of Poles after 1944.

Full description:

The seminar offers an introduction to Poland in the 20th century and selected aspects of the history of Polish People’s Republic. Although some classic (institutional) sources will be analyzed, the seminar focusses on film, literature (novels) and public discussions.

A fluent knowledge of German is required.
