Short description:	The aim of the course is to place theatre in the world of cultural spectacles and to develop methods for analysing and interpreting theatre performances in an anthropological perspective. The basic concepts of anthropology of theatre and spectacles will be discussed (Victor Turner, Richard Schechner, Eugenio Barba), and the main anthropologically inspired trends of 20th-century theatre (Jerzy Grotowski, Peter Brook, Tadashi Suzuki).
