1. Basic knowledge about neurosurgical diseases.

2. The ability to choose diagnostic methods for neuropsychological assessment.

3. Basic ability to perform an interview and neuropsychological examination.

4. Basic ability to draw conclusions based on clinical examination.

Metody i kryteria oceniania: (tylko po angielsku)

1. Term paper (during classes students observe and co-provide neuropsychological examination of a chosen patient, then each student prepares a case report)

2. Activity during classes

Student can miss no more than one day of class.

Students must respect the principles of academic integrity. Cheating and plagiarism (including copying work from other students, internet or other sources) are serious violations that are punishable and instructors are required to report all cases to the administration.

Highly recommended basic knowledge of the Polish language (it will be essential during patients’ examination).

Zakres tematów: (tylko po angielsku)

List of topics:

1. Introduction to the neurosurgery department, its agenda and principles.

2. Most common neurosurgical disorders (intracranial tumors, aneurysms, hydrocephalus, traumatic brain injury, drug resistant epilepsy)

3. How to choose a method and manner for investigating patients, depending on the type of their brain damage and general medical condition.

4. Clinical examination in practice.

5. Interpretation of tests’ results and observational data: neuropsychological diagnosis and its significance for further neurosurgical treatment.

Topics listed above will be interspersed among each other and realized during a series of classes (4-5h per day). The exact dates will be established later.

Metody dydaktyczne: (tylko po angielsku)

Students will have a possibility to observe neuropsychological examination of patients with brain damage. They will be able to see the neuroimaging scans and discuss the results of neuropsychological evaluation.
