Skrócony opis:

It is assumed that man is a self-conscious and rational being. However, recent prevalence of so-called fake news phenomenon allows to realize to what extend human experience and knowledge are shaped by different than rational means. The aim of this course is to present variety of ways of learning and gaining knowledge by people, which do not apply to conscious learning model. Important element of this model is its reference to so-called common sense, thus collectively created image of the world.

Rational model of knowledge gaining is questioned nowadays. It turns out that people are more eager to acquire information through other means. During the „Learning through common sense” course we will look at those alternative ways of gaining knowledge. The course objective is to highlight and pinpoint the relationship between individual and a community of sense (common sense) that develops through different ways of knowledge acquiring, such as: Internet memes, blogs, virals, gossips and popular culture.

The topics to be discussed include:

1. The idea of common sense

2. folklore and common sense

3. Unconsciousness and popular culture

4. knowledge circulation through memes

5. Internet as a source of common sense part 1

6. Internet as a source of common sense part 2

7. Popular culture and knowledge creation processes

8. Contemporary folklore

9. Knowledge on Other and common sense

10. Rationalism and common sense
