The lecture gives general information about natural environment of Poland (geology, relief, climate, hydrology, soils, vegetation, land use, natural landscape types, geographical regions, protected areas - national parks). |

The lectures (30 hours) will present general information about natural environment of Poland. 1.Landscapes and natural regions (2h) 2. Location of Poland on the background of the geological units of Europe; mineral resources; geological structure of Polish mountains; origin and contemporary development of landforms. (6h). 3. Hydrological structure of Poland. Water resources and water balance of Poland. Hydrological regime of the Polish river. Lakes, reservoirs and off-shore waters of Poland. Extreme events (6h) 4. Seasonal features of climate. Regional differentiation of climate. Climate change and its consequences for ecosystems and society. The impact of climate change on weather in Poland. The climate of mountain areas (Tatra and Sudeten Mountains). Urban climate - case study of Warsaw. Extreme events (4h) 5. Soils, vegetation, animals (6h) 6. System of nature protection, protected areas (national parks), landscape use, touristic potential (2h) |
