Overview of the constructs of anxiety and stress, and their adaptive and maladaptive roles in our daily lives |

(tylko po angielsku) From Freud till today the emotions of anxiety and stress have been a major focus of psychological theory and empirical research. In this course we will try to understand the biological, cogitive, and behavioral characteristics of these phenomena. The students will be presented with an overview of major theories relating to anxiety and stress: psychodynamic, behavioral, biological, and cognitive. We will cover both the adaptive and the maladaptive aspects of anxiety and stress. Various psychological interventions for reducing maladaptive stress and anxiety will be presented. |

Metody i kryteria oceniania: |
(tylko po angielsku) One absence allowed. Written exam with open questions. Students must respect the principles of academic integrity. Cheating and plagiarism (including copying work from other students, internet or other sources) are serious violations that are punishable and instructors are required to report all cases to the administration. |
