The aim of the seminar is to analyze the processes of globalization and European integration as contemporary development trends in the politics, society, economy and culture. The conditions of these processes and the most important challenges related to them will be discussed. The course aims to answer questions about the dimensions and complexity of globalization and the European integration, the role of institutions, organizations, countries, civil society and NGOs in these processes, their consequences and impact on societies. During the course we will analyze the historical evolution of Europe's role in globalization processes, the theories of globalization as well as key features of neoliberal globalization will be presented. It is very important to discuss and understand how the EU can react and respond to globalization. The course is conducted within the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence CEFoE. |

The aim of the seminar is to analyze the processes of globalization and European integration as contemporary development trends in the politics, economy, society and culture. The conditions of these processes and the most important challenges related to them will be discussed. The lecture aims to answer questions about the dimensions and complexity of globalization and European integration, the role of institutions, organizations, countries, civil society and NGOs in these processes, their consequences and impact on societies. During the course we will analyze the historical evolution of Europe's role in globalization processes, the theories of globalization as well as key features of neoliberal globalization will be presented. The main questions are: How is globalization defined? What factors determined the course of globalization at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries? What are the relationships between globalization and European integration? What are the main theories of globalization and how do they affect global management approaches and interpretations of the role of the nation-state? What is the EU's response to global climate change and international migration? How is European integration characterized in different theoretical perspectives? Is the EU a new political system? What are the main causes of weaknesses in the development of the EU and its internal divisions? What are the main dividing lines in the EU and what are they about? How has European integration influenced systemic changes in Central and Eastern European countries? What is deglobalization and what are its manifestations? How does a coronavirus pandemic change the world? In general, we will discuss the positive and negative effects of globalization and the future of this process. It is very important to discuss and understand how the EU can react and respond to globalization. |
