Skrócony opis:

The course will be composed of three modules.

The first module will provide students with knowledge on innovations in terms of sustainable development. During the course case studies of leading sustainability innovations will be discussed with an emphasis put on the good practices for future.

During the second module of the course the students will learn issues related to the impact of the new technologies on sustainable development and its application in organisation management.

The third module of the course will offer topics related to knowledge diffusion and knowledge spillovers in terms of sustainable development.

Pełny opis:

The course will offer an overview of innovation processes (supply-push and demand pull), types of innovations (architectural, radical, disruptive, incremental) main theories of innovation, market strategies adopted by innovative technology companies. Moreover, the course will cover the topic how the concept of sustainable innovation management applies to different areas of business.

In module II the following topics will be covered: key issues related to the technological revolution, technological trends and technology management; discussion of the importance of new technologies in society, economy and sustainable development; presentation of the technology life cycle and technology licensing.

Furthermore, in module III, issues of knowledge transfers (absorptive capacity, comparative advantage) and knowledge enablers will be analyzed.

Moreover, methods to manage the tacit knowledge (model SECI) will be presented. The students will get acquainted with the up-to-date research relating innovations, new technologies and knowledge transfer to sustainable development. Building upon case studies of companies, knowledge management strategies (codification and personalization) will be discussed.

Student will be able to explain relations between the development of technologies activities and environment, including externalities.

Students will characterize technologies development and technology life cycle.

Students will be familiar with business models based on new technologies.

Students will known how to design knowledge management strategies in terms of sustainability.

Students will be able to recognize the sustainable potential of innovations and will be able to assess innovations in the context of sustainability.

Metody i kryteria oceniania:

Tasks for students (60%) - individual and group tasks performed by students during classes and at home. Participation in class discussions.

Final individual project assignment (40%).
