  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;

Group activities - interactive lecture, work in subgroups, homework discussed in the group.

Full description:

The classes prepare participants for the presentation of scientific research (concepts, results) in the form of speeches at conferences, seminars, meetings with journalists or investors.

During the classes, participants learn how to speak (at a scientific conference, at a meeting with a company interested in cooperation with scientists, during a job interview) in an understandable and interesting way about difficult things, especially about scientific research and science.

The topics include:

1. Introduction, or a few myths about scientific presentations

2. The purpose, or why I need this

3. The plan

4. The project

5 How to start (and how to finish)

6 Slides and props, or accessories

7. In front of the audience, or your five minutes

8. Posters, or presentation in two dimensions

Learning outcomes:

- Can communicate to a degree that enables him/her to participate actively in an international scientific community.

- Understands what the objectives of scientific presentations are and how they can be achieved.

- Can prepare and present a professional speech at a seminar, symposium or scientific conference.

- Can analyze and critically evaluate a scientific presentation.

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

a description of the requirements related to participation in classes, including the number of excusable absences

Attendance at all classes, completing all home assignments.

the rules of passing the classes and the subject (including the pass mark credit)

A credit is awarded on the basis of attendance and active participation in classes and timely completion of all home assignments.

methods of verification of learning outcomes

Assessment by the tutor and other participants of short presentations on the subject of the doctorate prepared as part of their homework. Analysis and critical assessment of other participants' presentations

evaluation criteria

Credit on the basis of the rules in point “the rules of passing the classes and the subject (including the pass mark credit)”.
