Short description: |
The aim of the course is to present the theoretical background, main concepts and basic methodology of modern econometrics. We will discuss classification and examples of econometric models, in particular one equation linear model, estimation with least squares, applications in non-linear models, large sample theory, time series: stationarity, ARIMA,heteroskedasticity and forecasting. |

1. Econometrics -- basic methods and goals. Examples of econometric models. Classification. Prediction. (1 lecture) 2. The least square method (LSM). The setting of the problem. The determining of the optimal values of the parameters. The error of the approximation. The algebraic properties of the model. (1--2 lectures) 3. The classical single-equation linear econometric model. Model assumptions. The least square estimation of the structural parameters of the model. The statistical verification of the model. Example: The Cobb-Douglas production function. (4--5 lectures) 4. The least square method in nonlinear models. Example: Consumption demand modeling - the Törnqvist function. (1 lecture) 5. Large-sample theory. Review of limit theorems of random variables. Model assumptions. Asymptotic properties of least square estimators. The statistical erification of the model. Example: Rational expectations theory. (4 lectures) 6. Econometric models based on time series. Stationarity. Classical linear models ARMA and ARIMA. Heteroskedastic models ARCH and GARCH. Prediction.(2--3 lectures) |

Learning outcomes: |
(in Polish) Wiedza i umiejętności: 1. Zna cele ekonometrii i pojęcie modelu ekonometrycznego. 2. Zna założenia regresji liniowej; metodę estymacji metodą najmniejszych kwadratów; wnioskowanie statystyczne w tym modelu: budowę przedziałów ufności dla współczynników, weryfikację hipotez. 3. Rozumie skutki naruszenia założeń podstawowego modelu regresji, w tym efekty heteroskedastyczności, autokorelacji reszt, współliniowości; umie przeprowadzić odpowiednie testy statystyczne i zastosować metody estymacji właściwe dla danej sytuacji (z użyciem instrumentów bądź uogólnionej metody najmniejszych kwadratów). 4. Poznał modele nieliniowe i metody ich estymacji. 5. Zna założenia i umie zastosować metodę największej wiarygodności do estymacji modeli liniowych i nieliniowych. 6. Potrafi przeprowadzić wnioskowanie statystyczne dla danych jakościowych i danych uciętych. 7. |
