The lectures of general chemistry are concerned mainly with the structure and properties of inorganic chemical molecules, methods of their identifications and the major type of reactions. Program: 1. Structure of atoms, periodic table 2. Structure of chemical molecules (orbitals, chemical bonds) 3. States of the matter (ideal and real systems) 4. Properties of electrolyte and non-electrolyte solutions 5. Reaction types in aqueous solutions (acid-base, redox, complex formation and precipitation equilibria) 6. Characteristic of metallic compounds 7. Chemistry of non-metallic compounds 8. Chemical and electrochemical methods in analysis of inorganic compounds 9. Environmental chemistry Description by Elżbieta Bojarska, May 2010 |
