Prerequisites (description): | 1. Acquiring knowledge of the structure and operation of key measuring tools used in the contact lens selection and application process. 2. Understanding the fundamental principles that guide the soft contact lens fitting process. 3. Development of practical skills in assessing and qualifying patients, taking into account their individual needs and optical conditions. 4. Development of skills in distinguishing physiological norms from deviations in visual system measurements in individuals undergoing contact lens qualification, as well as those already wearing contact lenses. |
Short description: |
The course covers contact lens basics, contact lens fitting, lens care, and contact lens legal issues. Students will gain skills in examining prospective wearers, assessing the eye, selecting lenses, fitting soft lenses, correcting astigmatism and presbyopia, dispensing lenses and conducting follow-up appointments. In addition, complications of lens wear, dry eye, and legal aspects of contact lenses as medical devices are discussed. |

Written exam. A successful completion of the lecture requires more than 62.5% correct answers from the examination. Grading scale: bdb ≥90% db+ ≥85% and <90% db ≥ 80% and <85% dst+≥70% and <80% dst ≥62.5% and <70% FW <62.5% |
