Short description: |
Introduction of basic concepts and (experimental and theoretical) ideas in particle and nuclear physics is the main goal of this course (comprising 2 h. of lecture and 2 h. of exercises weekly). We shall strive to present the up-to- date status of this fast developing field. |

Program: 1. Historical introduction, overview of great discoveries in the last 120 years. 2. Methods and tools of subatomic physics, accelerators, interaction of radiation with matter, detectors. 3. Atomic nucleus and its properties. 4. Nuclear models: liquid drop, Fermi and shell model. 5. Radioactivity. 6. Fundamental particles and interactions. 7. Elementary processes and Feynman diagrams. 8. C, P, T symmetries. 9. Neutrino physics. 10. Astroparticle physics and nucleosynthesis. The exercises besides exemplifying the lectures through problem solving, will have the additional aim of discussing some of the experimental aspects of discussed material. Description by Marek Pfützner, September 2014. |

(in Polish) Ćwiczenia rachunkowe są obowiązkowe. W trakcie semestru odbędą się dwa kolokwia z zadań rachunkowych. Warunkiem zaliczenia ćwiczeń jest zgromadzenie przynajmniej połowy sumarycznej liczby punktów z obydwu kolokwiów. Egzamin będzie miał część pisemną i ustną. Część pisemna egzaminu (obowiązkowa) będzie sie składać z dwóch części: testu i zadań.. Do egzaminu będzie można przystąpić ponownie w sesji poprawkowej. |
