ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): (not available) Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Language: Polish
Prerequisites (description):

To familiarize students with the current state of knowledge in the field of biomedical physics

Short description:

The seminar encompasses broad range of problems connected with medical physics and neuroinformatics.

Full description:

The aim of the Seminar is to make the students familiar with the contemporary trends and achievements in the field of biomedical physics including scientific problems, as well as practical applications in medicine. The seminar is attended by students of specialties: Medical Physics, Neuroinformatics and Biomedical Physics, staff of the Division of Biomedical Physics and scientists and medical doctors from other institutions interested in the given problems. The foreign visitors are sometimes invited to give a seminar and then the lecture is in English. The problems addressed include:

* application of physical techniques e.g.: lasers, ultrasounds, ionizing radiation, electromagnetic fields in diagnostics and therapy,

* signal processing for medicine and biology, with a special emphasis on the analysis of brain signals: electroencephalograms, local field potentials, event related potentials, also electrocardiograms, electromyograms, otoacoustic emissions and others

* neuroinformatics and modeling of biological processes, especially dynamical models of the activity of neural populations, artificial neural networks

* different problems connected with health and the influence of environment on the organisms e.g. from the field of genetics and ecology.

Bibliography:

Bibliography is provided by speakers.

Learning outcomes:

Knowledge about the newest developments in the field of biomedical physics

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

The final grade depends on participation and activity:

Absences Grade

1-2 very good

3-4 good+

5 good
