ECTS credit allocation (and other scores):	2.50 Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles: the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS; the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h; 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes; weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS; work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Short description:	The aim of the course is to familiarise participants with the specifics of cataract surgery, including types of correction and aspects of calculating the optical power of implantable lenses.
Full description:	Subject delivered according to the following topics in the form of a two-day workshop. Day 1 1. cataract (causes, types, treatment history, treatment modality, epidemiology) 2. biometry 3. intraocular lens types (history of IOLs, what are currently on the market, materials, shape, asphericity, filters, AT IOLs) 4. astigmatism as a refractive defect, epidemiology, impact on vision Day 2 5. toric intraocular lenses (construction, correction ranges calculation) - exercises in toric lens calculation based on biometry results 6. toric lens implant (determination of implant axis - traditional, slit-lamp, Verion, Ora) 7. presbyopia-correcting multifocal lenses (accommodation and presbyopia, types of presbyopia-correcting IOLs, indications and contraindications, calculation, RLE Hands-on wetlab

Learning outcomes:	The student is familiar with cataract treatment, in particular the types of correction and their characteristics. The student is able to perform basic calculations of implantable lens power.
