The aim of the course is to familiarise participants with the specifics of cataract surgery, including types of correction and aspects of calculating the optical power of implantable lenses. |

Subject delivered according to the following topics in the form of a two-day workshop. Day 1 1. cataract (causes, types, treatment history, treatment modality, epidemiology) 2. biometry 3. intraocular lens types (history of IOLs, what are currently on the market, materials, shape, asphericity, filters, AT IOLs) 4. astigmatism as a refractive defect, epidemiology, impact on vision Day 2 5. toric intraocular lenses (construction, correction ranges calculation) - exercises in toric lens calculation based on biometry results 6. toric lens implant (determination of implant axis - traditional, slit-lamp, Verion, Ora) 7. presbyopia-correcting multifocal lenses (accommodation and presbyopia, types of presbyopia-correcting IOLs, indications and contraindications, calculation, RLE Hands-on wetlab |
