ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 2.50 Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Prerequisites (description):

1. Development of skills in fitting lenses for difficult cases, including corneal cone and irregular corneas, and following refractive surgery,

2. Acquiring specialist lens fitting skills for children and athletes,

3. Comprehensive understanding of the business aspects of contact lens practice,

4. Development of expertise in myopia management.

Short description:

This class focuses on advanced contact lens practices, covering specialized areas such as fitting lenses for keratoconus, irregular corneas, and post-refractive surgeries. Students explore the application of contact lenses in sports and pediatric optometry, as well as Orthokeratology for myopia correction. The course also addresses the business aspects of contact lens practice and delves into myopia management, including emmetropization, methods of control, and the role of contact lenses in myopia control.
