ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 2.00 Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

This proseminar consists of 4 series of 3 meetings. Each such series is devoted to one contemporary challenge or problem that is facing us. The challenges that will be discussed are related to topics such as global warming, biotechnology, artificial intelligence, nuclear threats, public education and science outreach, etc. Each series of meetings will consist of a lecture by an expert in a given topic, short presentations by students, and a discussion or other forms of deepening knowledge in this area.

This proseminar consists of 4 series of 3 meetings. Each such series is devoted to one contemporary challenge or problem that is facing us. The challenges that will be discussed are related to topics such as global warming, biotechnology, artificial intelligence, nuclear threats, public education and science outreach, etc. Each series of meetings will consist of a lecture by an expert in a given topic, short presentations by students, and a discussion or other forms of deepening knowledge in this area.

Learning outcomes: (in Polish)

The students will understand various aspects of some of the most important challenges of contemporary world and will gain motivation to try to address them themselves. They will also develop skills of preparing and giving public presentations and conducting and participating in public discussions.

Assessment methods and assessment criteria: (in Polish)

To get a positive grade a student should give all required short presentations and (actively) attend the classes.
