  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Short description:

A student delivers a 45 minute - long lecture on a selected topic in modern optics. Two lectures are required to pass the course.

Full description:

A student selects his/her topic from a list prepared by the course supervisor. Each topic has its own suprevisor - a scientist from Optics Division who hepls the student to prepare his/her lecture. This includes providing initial bilbliography, advising on slection of specific issues to be discussed, etc. The topic's supervisor can also help the student with practical matters concernig the lecture.

Bibliography:

The initial bibliography is provided by the topic's supervisor. The student is expected to follow the bibliograhy form then on.

Learning outcomes:

The ability to follow the literature on selected topic.

The ability to select crutial issues connected with a given topic

The ability to prepare materials for the lecture

The ability to deliver the lecture to a peer audience including discussion during and after the lecture

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

The mark comes from two components:

(1) peer mark. Each lecture is discussed by peers who point out strong aan weak points

(2) course supervisor's mark
