ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 4.00 Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.
Language: Polish
Main fields of studies for MISMaP:

chemistry

Type of course:

obligatory courses

Prerequisites (description):

Basic of chemical calculations (concentrations, concentrations conversions), writing chemical reactions equations, basic mathematical operation: exponentaial, logharitm.

The course is coupled with general chemistry tutorials

Mode:

Blended learning

Short description:

Getting practical knowledge concerning chemical properties of inorganic compounds and ions. Identification of selected ions in solutions and salts.

Full description:

The experimental introduction to different types of chemical equilibria in watery solutions is given, including acids and bases - weak and strong, buffers, solubility and complexation processes. Mixed systems: effect of acid/ bases and complexation on solubility. The second part of the course is showing application of above equilibria for ions identification purposes in watery solutions. In parallel, chemical properties of chosen anions and cations are experimentally verified

Learning outcomes:

Ability to use reactions with inorganic ions in solution and application of those for ions identification. Learning properties of inorganic ions in watery solutions.

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

Tests - solving above given types of problems.
