ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 3.00 Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.
Language: Polish
Type of course:

obligatory courses

Prerequisites (description):

Analytical and physical chemistry for undergraduate students, basic knowledge of liquid chromatography

Mode:

Blended learning

Short description:

Course on liquid chromatography hyphenated with mass spectrometry is offered aimed to broaden understanding the idea of ths analytical technique. The fundametal aspects of mass spectrometry are described containing different analysers, ionization sources, fragmentation spectra, typical modes in MS, practical applications od LC/MS.

The course covers the stationary classes and e-learning courses, in which students solve tests and homework.

Lessons are in the first part of semester.

Full description:

The lecture comprises the following topics:

1. Fundamentals of mass spectrometry

2. Analysers in Mass spectrometry (quadrupole, ion trap, time of flight etc)

3. Ionization modes in MS

4. Tandem mass spectrometry

5. Scans modes in MS (single ion monitoring, product ion scan, single reaction monitoring, netral loss precursor ion scan etc)

6. Interpretation of mass spectrum
