The lecture aims to familiarize the student with the advanced problems of high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry. The following will be discussed: the construction of the apparatus, the modes of operation of the mass spectrometer, and the types of ionization in LC-MS |

The lecture covers the following topics: 1. Basics of mass spectrometry, 2. Analyzers in mass spectrometry, 3. Methods of ionization of compounds in LC-MS, 4. Tandem mass spectrometry, 5. Modes of work of mass spectrometers (monitoring of a selected ion, monitoring of fragmentation ions, loss of a neutral molecule, monitoring of selected fragmentation reactions, etc.). The lecture will be supplemented with two laboratory exercises: 1. Determination of polyphenolic compounds by LC/MS method, 2. Identification of natural dyes in antique fabrics. |

Learning outcomes: |
(in Polish) Student wie i rozumie na czym polega proces rozdzielania związków przy zastosowaniu LC/MS. Student potrafi zinterpretować proste widmo MS i potrafi dobrać warunki detekcji ms do analizy związków organicznych. Student wie jak należy przygotować próbkę do analizy z wykorzystaniem LC/MS. |

(in Polish) Egzamin końcowy przeprowadzany w formie egzaminu pisemnego, pytania otwarte. Warunkiem zaliczenia jest uzyskanie powyżej 50% punktów. |
