Type of course:

obligatory courses

Prerequisites (description):

The student should have knowledge of all geophysical methods, i.e .:

- gravimetry

- geomagnetyki

- resistivity (VES, ERT)

- ground penetreiting method (GPR)

- seismic

This knowledge concerns the methodology of measuring, data acquisition, processing and interpretation.

Knowledge on these topics can be obtained on the following obligatory subjects conducted at the University of Warsaw:

- entry into geophysics,

- applied geophysics.

Short description:

The subject consists of 3 hours / week exercises. During the exercises, in the computer lab, students perform processing, interpretations and development of geophysical data.

Full description:

Exercises take place in the computer lab. Students work independently. Students have the task to perform practical tasks in the field of:

- VES method

- ERT method

- seismic method

- GPR method

- magnetic method

Practical tasks consist in the processing of received geophysical data from field measurements, their interpretation and subsequent development.

Learning outcomes:

After completing the course student can:

- processes data from the method of resistivity (VES,ERT) (P2A_W05).

- processes data obtained from GPR measurements (P2A_W05).

- processes data obtained from refractive seismics (P2A_W05).

- interprets the geophysical results of mentioned above measurements (P2A_W03)

- compiles the results of the geophysical measurements (P2A_W03)

- determines the occurrence of groundwater (P2A_W03)

- recognizes a geological structure by means of geophysical methods (P2A_W03)

- organizes geophysical work related to groundwater exploration (P2A_W09)

- organizes geophysical work related to the characteristics of geological and engineering conditions (P2A_W09)

- calculates elastic parameters of soils (P2A_W03)

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

The student receives a grade from the subject.

Requirements: knowledge of practical knowledge acquired during the exercise.

To complete the exercises student must: perform geophysical projects correctly and pass the colloquium
