ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 3.00 Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.
Language: Polish
Type of course:

obligatory courses

Prerequisites (description):

The student knows the basic concepts related to the following issues: systematics of groundwater, groundwater types due to the nature of hydrogeological medium and space, types and characteristics of aquifers, the basis of regional hydrogeological systematics, the occurrence of groundwater in different geological structures and environments, the basic issues of hydrology and hydraulics (eg types of rivers because of the relation to groundwater, hydraulic head, hydraulic gradient etc.) and forms of presentation of chemical analyzes of groundwater.

Short description:

The purpose of the subject is to acquaint students with different types of hydrogeological maps, methodology of practical usage of hydrogeological information contained on them and practical implementation of selected types of maps and graphic description.

Full description:

The subject consist of exercises realized in form of practice.

Each exercise is preceded by a theoretical introduction. Students learn about the most important elaborations of Polish hydrogeological cartography, the major hydrogeological divisions of the country and acquire skills related to describing and analyzing the hydrogeological conditions of any region.

Next, based on real field materials, practically make selected types of maps and other graphic elaborations.

Learning outcomes:

After completing the course a student:

- lists the most important descriptions of Polish hydrogeological cartography

- distinguishes the various regional hydrogeological divisions of Poland,

- selects from the literature, cartographic descriptions an information necessary for characterize the hydrogeological conditions,

- analyzes the hydrogeological conditions of the selected area,

- selects, appropriate to the situation, a solution in order to determine the groundwater table elevation with sufficient accuracy,

- interprets hydroizohypse and hydroizobath maps

- selects the optimal solution in order to illustrate the groundwater chemistry on the map

- illustrates the variability of groundwater chemistry in the drill profile.

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

Giving all the tasks correctly completed. Final grade based on oral colloquium, taking into account the quality of completed tasks.

Attendance is obligatory. Three excused absences are allowed. Absence from class requires the performance of the task carried out in class. Laboratory classes should be done in another group.
