Short description:

To acquaint students with the environmental monitoring system in Poland and the European Union. Students gain knowledge of the methodological basis for environmental monitoring, metrology, criteria and indicators to assess the state of the environment standards laid down for the individual components of the environment and the results of the state of the environment in Poland based on the study of individual subroutines system of the State Environmental Monitoring.

Full description:

The course acquaints students with the methodological foundations of the monitoring of the environment, the organization and the functioning of the environment in the Polish woman and the EU bodies and institutions implementing monitoring the functioning of the various components of the environment and in general the current state of the environment in Poland. The lecture is divided into the following topics: 1) the methodological basis; 2) the organization of the State Environmental Monitoring System; 3) organization and functioning of the various components of the environment; 4) international monitoring programs. Within these blocks are presented to the following issues. Block 1) the objectives and tasks of monitoring, methodological basis of discussing the subject of monitoring and rules to extract the individual components of the environment (landscape) monitoring based on systems theory, basic metrological monitoring (including the systems of automatic measurement and transmission of results). Block 2) The legal basis for monitoring the functioning, organization and functioning of the State Environment Inspection and the State Environmental Monitoring System; rules of informing about the state of the environment in Poland and the EU. Block 3) The objective of the objectives and tasks of each block SEM: the state of the environment, emissions, assessments and forecasts; Describes how the subsystems of the SEM and the current status of environmental components (for example subsystem groundwater monitoring adjustable in detail the principles of organization, operation and interpretation of the results of monitoring), are also discussed rules of organization and functioning of the monitoring database, system assurance / quality control monitoring. Block 4) is devoted to international cooperation, mainly within the European Community (the European Environment Agency and EIONET system) and the United Nations, NATO and the monitoring programs operating on the basis of international agreements and conventions.
