Type of course: | obligatory courses |
Short description: |
The aim of the course is to learn modern methods of data analysis in structural geology using professional software. |
Full description: |
Analysis of structural measurements and description of tectonic structures in sedimentary rocks. The exercises provide computer analysis of structural data, using professional structural software e.g. Stereonet, TectonicsFP, Geocalculator. Students work on own or prepared data like bedding planes, minor folds, fractures and faults. These data are statistically analized and presented in form of rose, point, great circles and contour diagrams. Using geometrical and genetical description of structures together with their statistical view, students compare data and give the answer about the origin and stages of evolution of the presented structures. |
