Language: Polish
Type of course:

obligatory courses

Prerequisites (description):

Basic knowledge of chemistry, physics, biology and extended knowledge of geology, engineering geology and hydrogeology.

Short description:

The principles of designing and conducting geological surveys for geoenvironmental purposes, taking into account applicable regulations and research procedures. Methodological basis for environmental monitoring, criteria and indicators for assessing the state of the environment.

As part of the exercises, students gain practical knowledge in the field of designing geological research for the needs of various projects, hydrogeochemical and hydrogeological monitoring systems and interpretation of results, they develop monitoring programs for a selected environmental component.

Full description:

Lecture topics:

1. Geological research projects - legal bases

2. Geological documentation for projects with significant environmental impacts

3. Examples of documenting geological conditions for objects with varying degrees of environmental impact

4. Methodological basis for environmental monitoring in Poland

5. Monitoring of individual components of the environment

Exercises - practical knowledge in the field of:

1. Performing research projects and documenting geological conditions for the selected location of the project that may significantly affect the environment

2. Designing the environment monitoring system and interpreting its results on the example of groundwater and land monitoring

3. Interpretation of the results of environmental monitoring to determine compliance with environmental standards, geochemical background, contouring of areas of chemical anomalies; determining the size of errors, assessing the chemical composition of groundwater.

Learning outcomes:

The student has skills in the field of design, organization and interpretation of geoenvironmental research and monitoring results, with particular emphasis on changes in groundwater status.

After completing the subject (lecture, classes), the student can:

design geoenvironmental surveys,

correctly analyzes the results of monitoring individual components of the environment, recognizes threats to the state of the environment arising from economic activity and is able to distinguish between changes in the environment related to the course of natural processes and changes resulting from the activities of the economy.
