ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 4.00 Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Prerequisites (description):

(in Polish) Student powinien posiadać podstawową wiedzę związana z:

- podstawami gruntoznawstwa,

- procesami geodynamicznymi,

- podstawowymi właściwościami fizyczno-mechanicznymi gruntów (metodami ich badań),

- oceną zmienności podstawowych parametrów fizycznych gruntów.

Short description:

The legal principles of geological designing and documenting. Principles of projects designing and documenting projects for purposes of engineering, hydraulic engineering, cartography, etc.

Full description:

Lecture: Laws (acts and regulations) on the principles of designing and documenting of engineering geological studies. Links of geological and construction law. Types of activities subjected to engineering geological documenting. Standardization documents - Polish and European standards. Authorizations for preparing the engineering geological documentation. Sources and types of archival materials used in engineering geological documenting geological. Engineering geological documenting and works schedule and administrative procedures. The impact of the complexity of the geology on the design of engineering geological works. Geotechnical categories of buildings. Contents of the geological works project. Preparation of geological work projects for various activities (spatial planning, geotechnical conditions of subsoil, surface waste storage). The contents of the engineering geological documentation. Preparation of engineering geological documentation for different types of construction (municipal, industrial, hydraulic engineering, communication).

Exercises: Analysis of geological projects administratively approved. Individual preparation of two geological works projects for preparation of engineering geological documentation to determine the geotechnical conditions of the subsoil. Individual preparation of two engineering geological documentation for construction of a building.

Learning outcomes:

After completing the course the student:

- knows the laws relating to designing and documenting of engineering geological studies,

- is able to determine the geotechnical categories of buildings,

- knows the requirements for the content of the geological works project and engineering geological documentation,

- knows the principles of planning of engineering geological studies for different types of construction,

- knows the administrative procedures for approving an engineering geological project and documentation,

- is able to prepare a geological work program for the purpose of engineering geological documentation preparation,

- is able to prepare a engineering geological documentation.

KNOWLEDGE

Student knows hydrogeological and natural conditions in the area of the planned underground water intakes for drinking purposes, drainage for constructions and mining (K_W05)

Student knows soil parameters used in design and construction of earthworks, buildings, underground and linear constructions (K_W06)

Student knows the management tools in geology (K_W07)

Student distinguishes legal-administrative and economic–financial tools and procedures in applied geology (K_W08)

Student predicts the effects of human interferences in the natural environment (soil and water, rocks and deposits, waste management, environmental risks, reclamation and revitalization of degraded areas (K_W09)

Student understands the place of sectoral policy and the principles of sustainable development in the socio-economic life (K_W11)

Student recognizes the models of geological environment (K_W12)

Student knows the rules of area usage (K_W14)

Student has knowledge of parameters of geological structural surface on a map and geometric characteristics of basic geological structures (K_W16)

Student knows the range of geological and geophysical drilling service, varied methods of drilling and requirements necessary for geological authorizations (K_W18)

Student knows how to prepare and write scientific study or project’s report (K_W21)

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

Assessment of geological work projects.

Assessment of geological and engineering documentation.

The requirements: all required reports shall be handed timely and accepted by the lecturer.

A student who has accrued more than two absences will be not classified.

Final written tests from the scope of lecture material and exercises issues.
