  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Short description:

The Master Diploma Laboratory embraces individualized activities related to the character of the Master Diploma prepared by the student. Depending on the range of the Master Diploma topic, the laboratory includes: autonomous work in laboratories, acquisition of archival data, elaboration of the obtained results and data, discussion with supervisor of Master Diploma, work on the manuscript and copy-editing of the Master Diploma.

The Master Diploma Laboratory embraces individualized activities related to the character of the Master Diploma prepared by the student. Depending on the range of the Master Diploma topic, the laboratory includes: autonomous work in laboratories, acquisition of archival data, elaboration of the obtained results and data, discussion with supervisor of Master Diploma, work on the manuscript and copy-editing of the Master Diploma.

Bibliography:

Individual choice depending on the topic of the Master Diploma. Each student sets a list of relevant references with the supervisor of the Master Diploma.

Learning outcomes:

The student improves the ability of conducting individual research, elaboration of results, using scientific references, writing of scientific texts, copy-editing.

P2A_U01 applies advanced techniques of laboratory analyses, knows how to use laboratory, basic and advanced research equipment

P2A_U01, P2A_U03, P2A_U05, P2A_U08 makes use of internet resources of geological data, can verify them, uses simple and advanced computer software in geological calculations, makes graphic or written interpretations of the obtained results

P2A_U02, P2A_U03, P2A_U04, P2A_U06, P2A_U07, P2A_U08,

P2A_U11 can autonomously analyse the acquired scientific data, interpret the obtained results and draw relevant conclusions based on individual experience and most recent references

P2A_U01, P2A_U03, P2A_U05, P2A_U06 can conduct geological interpretation of geophysical data; can identify the lithology and sedimentary structures based on well logs; can solve basic problems related to the geological-geophysical operation of wells

P2A_U02, P2A_U03, P2A_U05, P2A_U06, P2A_U07, P2A_U08, P2A_U09, P2A_U10 can individually interpret results of analyses and critically assess different ideas; can efficiently use Polish and foreign references and critically assess their contents; can present research results and the existing knowledge based on Polish and foreign references using multimedia techniques; can write a research report in Polish

P2A_U03, P2A_U04, P2A_U06, P2A_U07 plans empirical field research (types, schedule, field verification of results) and search query of field archives to acquire necessary material for the achievement of a scientific or practical goal; selects research sites; collects samples (water, soil, rock) or specimens according to relevant techniques

P2A_U02, P2A_U03, P2A_U06, P2A_U07, P2A_U12 can study professional Polish and foreign references and unpublished reports; knows a foreign language at B2+ level, gained by using foreign references during preparation for seminars and preparation of manuscript of Master Diploma; can autonomously draw conclusions and use them in research activities.

P2A_U08, P2A_U09, P2A_U10, P2A_U11 demonstrates knowledge on the choice of specialization and topic of Master Diploma in relation to future professional career; can elaborate a geological exercise, including a Master Diploma, as text, graphics and multimedia.

P2A_K03, P2A_W08 can set the schedule of particular activities and priorities for the achievement of a scientific or practical goal

P2A_K04 by conducting geological research activities knows how to identify problems and propose individuals ways of their solving

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

The student is graded by the supervisor of the Master Diploma based on assessment of the progress of Master Diploma preparation.
