ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 5.00 Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Prerequisites (description):

Students should have basic knowledge related to:

- methods of hydrogeological research

- basic of natural data associated with the area of engineer’s thesis

- geological building and hydrogeological conditions of engineer’s thesis area (on literature information and archival materials).

The knowledge on these subjects a student can earn during the following obligatory subjects conducted at UW: Structural geology, Field course og geological mapping.

Winter period: presentation of literature and the results of calculations for engineer’s thesis.

Full description:

Seminar is intended to familiarization the teacher and supervisor with the effects of engineer’s thesis with the effects of analysis of specialist literature and the results of calculation and projections work on the topic of engineer’ thesis.

Learning outcomes:

After completing the seminar a student:

- knows the methodology of presentation of the merits issue

- characterizes and evaluates the collected material for the engineer’s thesis,

- learns and characterizes the issues related to the topic of the engineer’s thesis.

Requirements for completion of the course:

- a significant amount of collected archival materials and literature,

- ability to interpret and present the results of calculation and projection work,

- attractive visual form of presentations,

- activity in the discussion after the presentations.
