  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Short description:

Participants of the seminar present the results of their individual work with environmental databases, literature on the subject, plan of field and lab research during preparation of MSc thesis.

Full description:

The program of the seminar provides presentation by each graduate student in the presence of the thesis supervisor:

- foreign language references on topics related to the thesis problems,

- characteristics of the content of references regarding the thesis topic, in particular the leading chapter of the work,

- updated contents of the thesis,

- plan of field and lab activities.

After each presentation an interactive conversation takes place. Its subject focuses on the presented merits and the manner and quality of presentation.

Additionally are discussed rules of selecting environmental samples, methods of their collection, storage and transport and arrangements of lab work.

Learning outcomes:

On completion of the course, the student is essentially and organizationally prepared for further field and laboratory work as well as work with maps.

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

The merits of the presentations, student’s involvement in the research and the method and quality of presentation shall be assessed. Acceptable number of absences from classes: three.
