|
Language: | Polish |
Type of course: | obligatory courses |
Prerequisites (description): | General knowledge about Physical Geology and Tectonics, basic knowledge about Solar System (at medium school level). |
Short description: |
Lecture presents these results of investigations of planets and moons of Solar System, which indicate occurrence of different tectonic processes – in past and present. |
Full description: |
Lecture starts in the 2nd week of the semester, because is preceded by a lecture about basics of tectonics for students from departments other than Geology. First 3 lectures are about methods of investigations of other planets, next 9 presents review of tectonics of all terrestrial planets and icy satellites – i.e. all bodies with rigid crust. Discussed is internal structure (core, mantle, crust), and all visible tectonic structures of each planet and satellite. Lecture 1: Tectonics and planets – definitions. Data sources. Lecture 2: Internal structure of planets – geotectonics. Lecture 3: Planetary surfaces and processes. Lecture 4: Moon – internal structure. Lecture 5: Surface of the Moon. Lecture 6: Mercury. Lecture 7: Venus – internal structure Lecture 8: Venus – surface and processes. Lecture 9: Mars – internal structure Lecture 10: Mars – surface and processes. Lecture 11: Distant Solar System – Jovian moons. Lecture 12: Distant Solar System –moons of Saturn, Uran and Neptune. Lecture 13. Exam (test). |
Bibliography: |
(in Polish) Wykład opracowany i aktualizowany na podstawie znacznej ilości artykułów w pismach, głównie „Icarus”i „Earth and Planetarny Scence Letters” (dostępnych przez ICM Scence Server). Wymagania egzaminacyjne ograniczają się do materiału zawartego w konspektach do wykładu (http://www.geo.uw.edu.pl/ztkg/planety.php). Literatury „podręcznikowej” dotąd brak, właśnie się ukazała: Watters T.R., Schultz R.A. (Eds.), 2009. „Planetary Tectonics”, Cambridge University Press. Po polsku nieliczne pozycje, m.in.: Atlas Układu Słonecznego NASA, 1999, Prószyński I S-ka. Bullock M.A., Grinspoon D.H. Globalna zmiana klimatu na Wenus. Świat Nauki nr 5, 1999:26-33. Nelson R.M. Learning outcomes: |
After lecture student have knowledge about tectonics of all terrestrial planets and moons in the Solar System, and about general rules of geological processes occurring on planets, similar in spite of their physical diversity. |
