ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 2.00 Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.
Language: Polish
Type of course:

obligatory courses

Prerequisites (description):

The student should have knowledge of the basics of hydrogeology

Short description:

The hydraulic conductivity is used in issues related to the dynamics of groundwater as well as in studies aimed at characterizing the migration of pollutants in the hydrogeological environment. During the classes, students learn the basic methods of determining the hydraulic conductivity , which constitute a cross-section of the main types of techniques for obtaining this parameter. Students will learn and apply laboratory methods for determining the hydraulic conductivity and simple field methods. As a result, the classes will contribute to understanding the importance of the hydraulic conductivity and assessing the reliability of its determination results during the analysis of archival materials and specialist studies and documentation in the field of hydrogeology.

Full description:

The goals of the classes are:

- Familiarization with methods for determining the hydraulic conductivity (k) using indirect methods based on data obtained from granulometric analysis and their interpretation using empirical formulas.

- Learning the methods of determining the hydraulic conductivity using laboratory permeability methods, including:

1. Permeameter;

2. King's pipes;

3. Column permeameter;

- Using the method of direct measurement of the hydraulic conductivity in the well using the PARAMEX method;

- Assessment of the reliability and accuracy of the results of determining the hydraulic conductivity using the types of methods presented.
