Prerequisites (description):

The student should have knowledge of the basics of geology and chemistry

Short description:

The most important issues: The concept of the groundwater medium and its components, i.e. the rock medium and the hydrogeological space. Hydrodynamic conditions of groundwater. Physico-chemical properties of groundwater and their origin. Selected issues of regional hydrogeology, occurrence of fresh and mineral waters in Poland.

Full description:

The lecture is intended to familiarize listeners with:

- groundwater medium and its structure, hydrogeological properties of rocks and the division of rocks according to permeability;

- the concept of an aquifer, the systematics of groundwater and the most abundant aquifers in Poland;

- physical and chemical features, components and forms of their occurrence in groundwater;

- main factors and processes influencing the chemical composition of groundwater;

- the main factors governing the groundwater exchange time and methods of assessing the age of groundwater;

- the subject and practical application of hydrogeochemical research;

- diversity of regional hydrogeological conditions in Poland, including distribution of fresh, mineral and thermal waters.
