  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.
Language: Polish
Type of course:

elective courses

Prerequisites (description):

Pass a subject Geomorphology and Quaternary Geology.

Student should have the ability to recognize Quaternary deposits and demonstrate knowledge of stratigraphical units in the Quaternary. Basic knowledge in paleontology will facilitate the learning of the subject.

Short description:

The subject presents palaeoecological changes in Quaternary Period. It is based on floristic and faunal analyses of Quaternary deposits. It describes

the most common groups of organisms found in these deposits and their application in climate and environmental studies of Quaternary. It teaches how to identify and describe fossil material and shows the possible ways of interpretation.

Full description:

Altogether eight 2-hours-long meetings are planned. The course aims at presentation and description of the most common groups of organisms, the study methods, identification of fossil material and interpretation of the results. Selection of sites and sampling techniques are also presented and the laboratory works are discussed and applied for palaeoenvironmental reconstructions. Students prepare presentations and/or essays and discus with lecturer.
