The aim of the lecture is to acquaint students with the infrastructure of higher education in Poland, especially in the area of scientific research implementation. In addition to the diagnosis, special attention during the class will be paid to the main problems, challenges and threats faced by young researchers. During the course, the lecturer's experience will be used, enriched by the broader context of the functioning of the research environment in the 21st century. However, the main element of the lecture will be a discussion of funding opportunities for basic research, both from Polish and European sources. Thanks to this knowledge, students will be better prepared for the process of preparing their own grant application, as well as for the strategy of publishing, participation in scientific conferences or mobility abroad. The classes will focus on four main topics:

1. Young researcher in the world of science - diagnosis, challenges, pitfalls

2. Sources of funding for basic research in Poland and Europe

3. Academic mobility - what to expect, how to prepare

4. 7 steps to writing a research proposal

Students will be encouraged to engage in joint discussion, especially to share their experiences of functioning in a research environment.
