Prerequisites (description): | Students will have basic knowledge of world socio-economic geography, political geography and population geography. |

Short description: |
The topics of the lectures concern the geography of globalisation. Global processes and their consequences for the development of countries and regions are discussed. Among the many issues related to development processes special emphasis is placed on social, cultural, political and economic issues. The general issues presented are illustrated with examples from various regions of the world. |

The topic presented is divided into several parts; Geographical studies of globalisation processes. 2. Globalisation vs. glocalisation. Man in a globalised world: global and local social processes (migration, labour market). 4. Big cities - centres of global processes (processes, phenomena, challenges). 5. Problems of rural areas and world agriculture - social and political consequences. 6. Spatial forms of new production and service sectors. 7. Development and poverty - causes, effects, theoretical concepts of poverty research. 8. 8. colonialism in the concepts of development. Neocolonialism and postcolonialism. Consumption in geographical research. 11. Culture and development. Students should allocate 20 hours to achieve the learning outcomes. |

Directional effects: K_W01, K_W15, K_U06, K_K01 Specialty outcomes: S2_W01, S2_W15 - Graduate is able to explain causes and effects of global processes and relations between selected phenomena on local and global level. - Graduate knows basic contemporary economic, social and political processes on a global scale. - The student is familiar with the specificity of social and economic development of selected regions in the world. - Graduate understands reasons of poverty and underdevelopment and knows theoretical concepts which are used to research on those phenomena. |
