The student should be familiar with the phenomena and processes that affected life and the economy in different parts of Asia, Africa and Oceania. Know the genesis of modern countries in these areas and the most important historical events that shaped and shaped their functioning. |

Lecture conducted in the room, using PowerPoint presentations, slide shows, and teaching videos. The selection of topics from the catalog below is based on current world events and the interests of the student group. Individual meetings are devoted to presentation, analysis and discussion on the following topics: 1. Overview of political and cultural regions in Africa and Asia. Local and regional tensions and conflicts. Their background. 2. Two Korean countries - between war and isolation 3. Conditions for the functioning and diversity of modern China 4. Indochina as an area of war and genocide 5. Shaping and functioning of India - the largest democracy in the world 6. Afghanistan - a cursed country? 7. From Persia to the Islamic Republic 8. Iraq - land of dictatorships and conflicts. 9. Genesis, background and course of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in the Middle East. 10. Africa - modern conflicts inherited from the colonial era. 11. Background to the wars in Central Africa (Rwanda, Democratic Republic of the Congo) 12. South Africa - before and after apartment. 13. Why is West Africa a conflict area? 14. Oceania - from stability to unstable balance 16. ISIS - How is it possible that an Islamic state arose? 17. Somalia and Somaliland - conflicts in failed and unrecognized countries. 18. Africa - how model coups are carried out. 19. Middle East - the function and significance of terrorism in contemporary conflicts. 20. Libya - the fall of Muammar Kadaffi and the beginning of the migration crisis. 1 ECTS (30 hours) - hours in direct contact with the lecturers, i.e. participation in classes, 2 ECTS (60 hours) - student's own contribution, including 30 hours. reading the literature, 30 hours studying techniques and research methods |

Learning outcomes: |
Knowledge Knowledge of the most important historical events in Africa, Asia and Oceania. Knowledge of the most important features of the communities living in these areas and the tensions and inequalities that occur in them. Knowledge about the genesis of conflicts and wars and their effects on the modern functioning of states and societies. Understanding local, regional and global threats originating in various parts of Africa, Asia and Oceania. Skills Developing skills to interpret the causes of conflicts. Developing the ability to independently search for information in foreign language literature and to prepare presentations based on it Ability to analyze the arguments of parties involved in the conflict. attitudes Developing analytical attitude. Promoting tolerance for other societies. Paying attention to the cruelty associated with wars and conflicts. |
Assessment methods and assessment criteria: |
The final grade consists of the grade from the test exam (50% of the component) and the grade from the exercises obtained on the basis of the prepared work and presentation (50%). A maximum of two absences allowed. Issues from classes in which the student was absent without justification should be made up (oral answer). The student, if necessary, should participate in consultations, learn to pass, prepare a presentation, write a test. |
