The main objectives of the course are: to acquire knowledge of the fundamental concepts geostatistcs, to become familiar with standard statistical techniques with applications for spatial analysis. |
Full description: |
The elements of classical statistics - scales of measurements, models of probability distribution, descriptive statistics (software: Excel Analysis ToolPak), presenting data, the basis of statistical testing, parametric and nonparametric tests, analysis of variance, correlation and regression. The introduction to the geostatistical analysis, spatial autocorrelation, spatial interpolation methods, semivariograms and kriging, the analysis of spatial pattern, landscape metrics (software: ArcGIS Geostatistical Analyst and Spatial Analyst, SAGA, FRAGSTAT). |

Learning outcomes: |
Student: - knows the mathematical fundamentals (especially based on the theory of probability) of spatial statistics - can choose the type of statistical test - understands the difference between correlation and regresion - can perform a standard graphical visualizations used in statistics - knows and understands the basic concepts of geostatistics and the potential of their application - knows the basic method of interpolation (knows their advantages and disadvantages), and can make the interpolation in ArcGIS - can check the randomness of localisation with the use of ArcGIS Spatial Anlyst - can calculate and interpret landscape indicators |
