  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;

  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;

Short description:

The course presents selected major issues of concern to the economic geography and selected research methods

Full description:

In class discuss selected issues of economic geography research, including: factors and theories of location of economic activity, competitiveness and investment attractiveness of cities and regions, the role of foreign direct investment in development, the role of cities in development. It also provides the national spatial concepts and categories of problem areas.

It also provides some methods used in economic geography.

Learning outcomes:

After completing the classes the student:

1. Knowledge

- knows the key issues of concern to the economic geography;

- knows the basic research methods used in economic geography;

2. Skills

- actively listen and think critically;

- looking for statistical data for research;

- correctly chooses the indicators to test;

- sees the relationship between natural environment and economic activities of society;

- explains the causes of spatial differentiation of economic phenomena;

- correctly analyzes, develops and presents the results of research;

3. Attitude

-makes independent analysis of a selected topic (problem);

- creates a written statement (written comment), complying with a concise treatise;

- criticizes the presented opinions;

- is aware of the responsibility to be objective and consistent with the methodology of scientific investigation;

- participates in discussions in class;
