ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 2.00 Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Short description:

Experts of spatial planning are facing problems of city revitalization and rivers flowing through such areas. This require knowledge from the natural sciences such as hydrology and ecology.

Full description:

Following topics are presented:

River and its catchment

Methods of catchment and river geometry description with the use of parameteres

Measurements of stage and discharge, derived characteristics of run-off, unit discharge, layer of runoff, ratio of runoff

Sources of nutrients ant their transport in the fluvial system

Problem of artificial reservoir euthriophication an example of Silejow reservoir

Good practice in mountain rivers renaturisation

Exampes of large rivers renaturisation

Knowledge about pronciloes of hydrology and ecology needed in the proces of preparatio and evaluation of river renaturisation projects. Student knoows aand understand the need of rivers renaturisation. (S2_W02, S2_W13)

Studnt can apply proper study methos needed on renaturiston project, compare the natural to converted rivers. (S2_U01, S2_U02, S2_U06, S2_U12)

Student is prepared to participate in the projects of renaturization and improvement of existing rivers
