Full description:

The aim of the doctoral seminar is to prepare a doctoral dissertation by its participants. At the seminar, this is served by, among others exchange of thoughts (asking questions and making comments) by the listeners after subsequent meetings, during which subsequent participants report their progress.

The topics of subsequent meetings are related to the doctoral dissertations prepared by the participants. Doctoral students prepare their own work (under tutor's supervision), and present partial and final research results at the seminar, undergoing group evaluation. The group includes all PhD students of WGSR.

Bibliography:

Literature: Impossible to specify - depends on the thematic and territorial scope of doctoral dissertations.

Learning outcomes:

The final result of a doctoral seminar is a doctoral dissertation.

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

The activity and quality of discussions as well as regularity in preparing subsequent fragments of the doctoral dissertation are assessed. The assessment is made by all members of the WGSR Doctoral Studies Council. The condition of passing the PhD Seminar in the first year is a positive assessment of the presentation of the doctoral dissertation in the presence of a supervisor before the Council for Doctoral Studies of the WGSR. The condition of passing the PhD Seminar on the II, III and IV year is a positive assessment of the presentation of the stage of doctoral thesis at the PhD Seminar before the Council of Doctoral Studies of the WGSR in the presence of a supervisor. Members of the Doctoral Studies Council rate the presentation on a scale of 1 to 10 points. The final grade is the arithmetic average of the grades issued by Council members. A positive mark requires at least 4 points. Only PhD students who have submitted the report together with the supervisor's opinion on the appropriate date, specified annually by the head of the Doctoral Studies, may participate in the presentation.

In case of an epidemiological threat, classes may be conducted remotely, and the credit may be given orally using electronic means of social communication recommended by the University of Warsaw.
