Short description:

The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the basic methods of quantitative research in urban studies. Classes are at introductory level. They are intended for people who do not have previous experience with quantitative methods or have little experience in this field or need a refresher

Full description:

The following topics will be discussed in class: data used in urban studies, types of data, sources of secondary data (e.g. the Central Statistical Office's databases), basic information about the methods of collecting primary data (preparation and implementation of surveys), measurement methods and measuring scales, data verification, visualization using basic tools, formulation and testing of hypotheses, basic statistical analyzes using generally available software, types of variables, statistical description, measures of central tendency and dispersion, types of distributions, correlation.
