ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 5.00 Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Prerequisites (description):

The course is aimed at presenting the problems of Nationalism, Identity in the new geopolitical environment in our part of Europe. Specific social and political problems of contemporary countries of the region in this regard will be disccussed as well.

Namely, the course will focus on contemporary

social, political and cultural issues based on the above menntioned phenomena including provided necessary historical context.

The course is aimed at presenting the problems of Nationalism, Identity in the new geopolitical environment in our part of Europe. Specific social and political problems of contemporary countries of the region in this regard will be disccussed as well.

Namely, the course will focus on contemporary social, political and cultural issues based on the above menntioned phenomena including provided necessary historical context.

Literature will be provided to students for each class.

Learning outcomes:

- Student zna i rozumie społeczne, polityczne, gospodarcze, kulturowe uwarunkowania przebiegu procesu politycznego, w tym w ich historycznej perspektywie oraz w ujęciu międzynarodowym i porównawczym w kontekście problematyki nacjonalizmu i tożsamości.

- Student zna i rozumie w stopniu zaawansowanym wybrane teorie konceptualizujące zależności między elementami procesu politycznego w kontekście problematyki nacjonalizmu i tożsamości (charakterystyczne dla nauk o polityce i administracji).

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

Participation: 20%. All students are required to have completed the readings for each week before class begins, and everyone should be prepared to discuss the readings during class.

Oral exam: 80%.
